When children exhibit behaviors that are not compliant, early educators often label them “challenging.” But are they really? Teachers and administrators often jump to conclusions about the child or their family and community. Research shows in order to gain a meaningful understanding of children’s behavior there must be a meaningful understanding of adult bias and the context in which these behaviors occurs.
