State Grants Available for
New Construction and Major Renovations
of Child Care Facilities

Who

SHOULD APPLY FOR A GRANT Experienced home-based and center-based early care and education practitioners with a tenure of at least one child care facility (home or center-based) located in California in operation on or before August 01, 2021.

What

Grants are available to increase capacity or recover lost capacity of licensed child care centers and family child care homes. Licensed child care centers can request up to $1,500,000 and licensed family child care homes can request up to $100,000. 

Examples of allowable uses of grant funds include:

Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) for indoor and outdoor spaces
Renovation/construction costs to expand from a small to a large family child care home
Putting solar panels on a new facility or an expanded facility
Plumbing; heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC)
Demolition, Electrical, Flooring, and more (review the RFA for additional examples).
